Dabney Coleman

There was a time in the early '80s when it appeared that a middle-aged Dabney Coleman was poised to take over the entertainment world - "9 to 5" (1980), "On Golden Pond" ('81), "Tootsie" ('82), and "Wargames" ('83), one huge hit right after another.  Then his TV show "Buffalo Bill" never really took off, and then he kind of slowly disappeared from view, making appearances in things like the "Dragnet" movie, Bobcat Goldthwait's talking horse vehicle "Hot to Trot," and "The Beverly Hillbillies" film adaptation.

It Makes "Once Bitten" Look Like a Classic of the '80s Teen Vampire Genre

Thanks to the power of over-the-air digital subchannels, I became aware of the existence of "Rockula" -

"Rockula is a 1990 American comedy film directed by Luca Bercovici. The story centers on a vampire under a curse (the tagline is: "He's a vampire that hasn't scored in 400 years- tonight's the night!"). It was written by Bercovici and Jefery Levy. Dean Cameron stars as the vampire Ralph LaVie, Toni Basil plays Phoebe LaVie, Ralph's mother, and Thomas Dolby is the villain Stanley.
Bo Diddley has somewhat more than a cameo, as Axman, playing in Ralph's band, incidentally named Rockula. "

Yes, He Played for the Raiders

Vanity's former husband, Oakland Raiders defensive end Anthony Smith, once "was charged with firebombing a Santa Monica, California, furniture store, 'reportedly over a dispute with the store's owner about money and a consignment item.'  After two juries were unable to reach a verdict in the case, a judge dismissed the charge."

He was later charged with four murders and convicted of three.

Things I Just Realized

Olympic swimmer Janet Evans' high school boyfriend Aaron Behle later appeared on the "Real World"'s Los Angeles season.

He may have also portrayed any number of blond SoCal jock villains in 1980s high school films.
