In 1968, singer and actress Eartha Kitt was invited to a luncheon at the White House. When asked about the war in Vietnam, she reasonably replied, "You send the best of this country off to be shot and maimed. No wonder the kids rebel and take pot."
The Johnson administration ordered the corrupt and discredited CIA to compile a dossier about her to undermine her career. The bigoted spooks labeled her "a sadistic nymphomaniac," and Kitt was forced to perform abroad. Kitt was later invited back to the White House by Jimmy Carter, the agency's nemesis.
