Another thing my mother loved about Bremerton were all of the "interesting" people she met there. In addition to her fellow white supremacists who taught kids that Black people were not deserving of full membership in their honky church because they inherited the Curse of Cain, she thought it great that my father once shared a hospital room with someone who had participated in the imperialistic and incompetent Bay of Pigs Invasion, one of the greatest injustices and most idiotic debacles in US history. Harry S. Truman reasonably excoriated the CIA for their stupidity and hubris, and the debacle nearly led to the annihilation of humanity.
It's such a shame that my braindead mother never had a 2nd grade understanding of US history and/or common sense.
